The Obliteration Room

This installation piece by Yayoi Kusama was exhibited at the Queensland Gallery of Modern Art in Australia. The artist began with a typical room and painted all the walls and furnishings completely white.
She then invited young children who were visiting the museum to place colorful stickers anywhere they wanted in the room.
The room was eventually covered in color, effectively obliterating the stark whiteness and completely transforming the space.

The things that struck me most about this piece were its collaborative nature, continuous transformation, and inherent simplicity. I loved seeing such a whimsical, "fairy tale" land emerge out of the bleak whiteness. And I'm sure the kids had fun :)
