Genuine Acoma Pottery comes from the Acoma settlement in New Mexico. It was settled around 1000 years ago. The pottery traditions from this matriarchal society are very time intensive. They are involved in every step of the process, from harvesting the clay and pigments, to firing and surface decoration. I think the surface decoration and the form on these pieces is breathtaking. Acoma Pottery is always hand built, not thrown.
